Here is a selection of work made by hobbiest knifemakers from parts supplied by me. On the most part I make blades to order, they are forged and heat treated by me but the customer has control over the design. If you would like to have a go at knifemaking, I will make a blade to your design and can take the blade finish as far as you wish (I can heat treat, but leave you to finish sanding and polishing the blade, or I can finish the blade ready for attaching to a handle!). I can also supply materials for guards, handles and sheathes.
I made the blade for this knife from EN42 carbon steel, it has been forged finihsed and measures about 8". The handle, sheath and tool roll were made by the customer, one Simon Gee, as a gift for a Norwegian friend.
Simon has a selection of other blades awaiting his attention, including 2 clay coated kwaiken blades with spectacular hamon and a 16" seax blade! I look forward to seeing what he does with them!
I made the blade for this knife from BS1407 high carbon steel, it has been forged finished and measures about
3 1/2". I sold the blade to Phil Ross at the Exeter Knife show, within weeks he sent me these photos.
The handle and sheath have been made form a single antler tine, with slices of black buffalo horn bolsters. Beautiful work there Phil!
I made the blade for this knife from BS1407 high carbon steel, it has been forged finished and measures about
4 1/2". I sold the blade to Puzo, a member of British Blades. This is what he did with it!
The handle is a lovely piece of figured snakewood and has been shaped to show the tang of my blade all around.
I made this blade for another BB member, Mik, he has talent this man!
The textured handle and sheath work extremely well with the forged finished blade. Mik has some more of my blades in the works somewhere ;-)
I made this blade for a good friend (who also has several blades in the works) so that he could make a knife for his son as a gift.
The blade is a little over 3" in length and forged from BS1407.
